She held a few interesting jobs in Chicago. Following medical school, they moved to the west side medical center for 5 years of internship and residency at Presbyterian-St. Lukes. Joan returned to the University of Illinois Circle Campus, where she continued her outstanding academic achievement. In 1967 they welcomed son Robert, followed in 1969 by daughter Kimberly. Joan became what is now known as a "stay at home Mom." In addition to helping Rob and Kim with their studies, they spent innumerable hours at the Lincoln Park Zoo, Wrigley Field and the Fullerton Avenue Beach. She treaured her time with Rob and Kim, and has greatly enjoyed watching them grow, marry, and have children. Her grandchildren were a very important part of her life.
