Joan Lee Winton, 87, of Interlochen, Michigan, formerly of Fountain Hills, Arizona, passed away peacefully on Thursday, July 1, 2021, at French Manor LaFranier, in Traverse City, Michigan, with her daughter by her side.  She was born January 28, 1934, in Gibson City, Illinois, the daughter of Edwin and Irene (Finn) Wilkening.

With her husband, Mel, Joan owned and operated Mel's Vacuum Repair, in Fountain Hills, Arizona, for many years.  In her spare time, she enjoyed painting, and she loved the Arizona sun.

Joan was preceded in death by: her parents; her sister and brother-in-law, Ernestine and Norman "Steer" Weinmann; and her husbands, Frank Krause, William J. Phillips, and Melvin Winton.

In keeping with Joan's wishes, no services will be held.

Beacon Cremation & Funeral Service, Covell-Traverse City Chapel, is in charge of arrangements.
