IN LOVING MEMORY OF
John N.
Bono
June 14, 1951 – March 28, 2023
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of John N. Bono, who passed away peacefully on March 28, 2023, at the age of 71, after a short and courageous battle with brain cancer.
As we all know what kind of person John is, he would not want others around him to mourn his passing but rather be celebrating him for the person that he was.
John was born on June 14, 1951, in Grand Rapids, Michigan, to Nicholas Charles Bono and Frances Lilli (Sheringer) Bono. He married the love of his life, Sharon L. (Simpson) Bono on July 2, 1977, and they have been together for the past 56 years.
John was a devoted family man, and cherished his wife, Sharon. Sharon and John were two people that many looked up to due to their love for one another and the love that they had for their children; Chad and Mindy (Derek) Johnson; and his four grandchildren, Lillian, Case, Nolan, and Cailyn. John was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend to so many. He had many others who adored him including his sister, Cindy (Joe) Mahan; brothers-in-law, Wesley (Amy) Simpson and Carl (Linda) Simpson; and sisters-in-law, Marlene (Ron) Jones and Christine Ward. John's nieces and nephews were also a large part of his life, including Tim (Lynn) Kyburz, Tracy Johnston, Jason (Darcy) Locke, Callie (Bryan) Mahan, Haleigh (Sam) Gagnon and Brayden (Alivia) Locke.
He was preceded in death by: his mother, Frances; father, Nicholas; and sister, Marcia Kyburz.
He attended Muskegon High School and graduated with the class of 1971. John spent many years having different jobs/hobbies, including working at the marina, carpentry, and ending with being self-employed as a builder, owning Bono's Builders. John spent many years as a builder, spending countless hours outside working in his garage on his vehicles and any other things that he found in the garage. John enjoyed shooting firearms, had a passion for hunting and fishing, and loved spending time on his pontoon boat on Silver Lake and White Lake. John also spent numerous years playing poker with his friends at "The Barn." He enjoyed fixing things and building things for his family and friends, which will be cherished for years to come. After retirement, John and Sharon were able to spend many winters in Florida. In between their trips to Florida they enjoyed watching their grandchildren's activities.
