Mr. John E. Patterson, age 93, of Hart, passed away Thursday, September 22, 2011. He was born August 20, 1918, in Colfax Township, to Chauncy and Josephine (Moloski) Patterson. He was employed at Muskegon Piston Ring until his retirement in 1990 and was also a farmer. He married H. Lorraine Halladay on February 14, 1947. She preceded him in death on August 18, 2008. Mr. Patterson graduated from Walkerville High School and served in the Army during World War II. He was a member of Walkerville United Methodist Church.

John is survived by a sister, Bernice "Sis" Aikens of Walkerville; several nieces and nephews, including Janice (Bill) Volpp of Hart, Joy (Gene) Ackerman of Norton Shores and Mary Ellen DePeel of Walkerville; grand nieces and nephews, and great-grand nieces and nephews; and special friends Ted Straley of Hart, and Tom (Linda) Amstuz of Hart, MI. He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife, and six brothers, Nick, Joe, Frank, Mike, Clarence, and Rodney, as well as two sisters, Nina Blamer and Evelyn Walker.

Funeral services for Mr. Patterson will be Saturday, September 24, 2011, at 1:00 pm at King Funeral Home in Hart with Rev. Ken Vanderlaan officiating. Interment will be in Hart Cemetery with a military committal by Hart VFW Post 1329. The family requests that any memorials be directed to Crystal Valley Care Fund or the Poppen Hospice House.
