Mr. John Pinkerton, Jr, age 76 of Mears, died Thursday, June 12, 2008. He was born in Philadelphia on October 4, 1931 to John and Alice (Gripton) Pinkerton, Sr. He married the former Elizabeth Holmes in Virginia Beach on December 10, 1978. John served his country in the United States Navy and retired from military service in 1978. He was a member of the Hart VFW Post 1329 Hart and the Hereford Lodge #177 F. & A.M. in Wildwood Crest, NJ. John is survived by his wife of 29 years, Elizabeth Pinkerton of Mears; four children; four step-children; fourteen grandchildren; four great grandchildren; one brother. A Memorial Gathering will be held Monday, June 16, 2008 at 2:00 P.M. at the VFW Post 1329 Hart.
