Mr. John Krupa passed away peacefully on August 20, 2016. He was born July 11, 1924 in Ludington, the son of Frank and Agnes Krupa. He went to St. Simon's schools and served in the US Army during WWII where he received a Bronze Star for bravery in action. In 1951, he married the love of his life, Elna Hanson Krupa, and they had 2 children, Carol Krupa Shippy and Greg Krupa. He retired from Jackson Jordan after 32 years, while also owning and operating the Blue Spruce Motel for 25 years with the help of Elna. They were successful due to their welcoming personalities which gained them many repeat customers and lifelong friends. John was preceded in death by his loving wife Elna in 2013, and his beloved daughter Carol, as well as brothers Ted, Walt, and Dick. He is survived by his son Greg (Liz) Krupa and sister Mary Ann (Bob) Yeager, sister-in-law Sophie Krupa, his son-in-law Leonard Shippy, and his grandchildren: Sara Shippy Yzquierdo (Shaun), Eric Shippy (Jen), and Stephen Krupa. John was the kind of father, father-in-law, and grandfather everyone wishes they could have. The Mass of the Resurrection for John will be offered Saturday, October 8, 2016 at 10:30 am from St. Simon Catholic Church with Fr. Wayne B. Wheeler presiding. Interment will be made in the Pere Marquette Cemetery. The family will greet guests one hour prior to the Mass. There will be a reception and luncheon following the Mass at St Simon's Family Center for family and friends. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to St Simon's Faith Formation, 702 E.
