Mr. John J. "Jack" Parrish, age 91, died Friday March 14, 2008. He was born June 12, 1916 in Fluvanna County, VA to Edgar and Ethel (Marks) Parrish. On September 22, 1941, he married the former Helen Povish in Oakland, MD. Mr. Parrish was employed as the shipping manager at DuPont-Montague Works. He was a member of the Shelby United Methodist Church and was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II. John is survived by his wife of 66 years, Helen of Hart; children, Rebecca Start of Grandville, John W. Parrish of Granbury, TX, Mark R. Parrish of Hart; grandchildren, Kendra (Ethan) Dozeman of Hudsonville, Christopher, Jamie, Rebecca Parrish, all of Oregon; great granddaughter, Shylah Dozeman of Hudsonville; several nieces and nephews. Mr. Parrish was preceded in death by his parents, an infant daughter, five brothers and three sisters. The Funeral Service for Mr. Parrish will be held Wednesday, March 19, 2008 at 2:00 P.M. at the Tate-King Funeral Home with the Rev. Earnest Cummings officiating. Interment will be in the Hart Cemetery. Military Committal Services will be provided by the Hart American Post 234 and the Hart VFW Post 1329. Following the service, family and friends are invited to a gathering to be held at the Hart American Legion Post 234. Visitation will be Tuesday from 6-8 P.M. and one hour prior to the service at the Tate-King Funeral Home. Memorial contributions may be given to the Alzheimer's Association or Hart American Legion Post 234.
