Mr. John Louis Rogus, age 77, of Wyoming, MI and formerly of Fountain, MI, passed away on July 11, 2016, after a long battle with cancer. John was born in Chicago, IL on March 24, 1939 to John and Mary (Rogus) Drewno. He graduated from Thornton Fractional North High School, Calumet City, IL and continued on to receive an Associate's Degree from Caldwell Community College & Technical Institute, Hudson, North Carolina. John was married to Clementine Marie "Teenie" DeRosa on September 12, 1959. Mr. Rogus worked for American General Finance (formerly Credit Thrift of America) and, after 36 years, retired as a Regional Vice President. John proudly served our Nation as a Marine based in Hawaii. He enjoyed duck hunting, duck decoy collecting, golf, and playing cards. He was an active member in Knights of Columbus in Ludington, MI as well as Ducks Unlimited. They enjoyed many active years of golf and fellowship at Manistee National Golf Club, as well as winters in Myrtle Beach, SC where they both established lifelong friendships.
Mr. Rogus is survived by his wife, Clementine; daughter, Eve Marie (Paul Becker) Rogus; son, Joseph Edward (Jennifer) Rogus; grandchildren, Luke Kevin (Erin) , John Rudolf, Erin Marie Antvelink, John Conrad and Kelsey Elaine Rogus; step-grandchildren, Sara (Alex) Forist , Meg Becker; great grandchildren, Sophia Forist and Skylar Antvelink (Erin); sisters, Janice (Robert) Lewis and Joyce (Gerald) O'Keefe; brother, Frank (Gilda) Rogus; sister in law, Linda (Leo) Bonin; as well as many nieces, nephews, extended family members and friends. John is preceded in death by his son, John Michael, his parents John Rogus and Mary (Rogus) Drewno; step-father Stanley Drewno; grandmother Busia Klis, in laws Joseph DeRosa and Helen (DeRosa) Kosik, brother-in-law Joseph and child sister-in-law Janice DeRosa.
The Mass of the Christian Burial for Mr. Rogus will be offered on Saturday, July 16, 2016, at 11:00 a.m., from St. Mary Catholic Church, 85 South Madison Avenue, Custer, MI 49405 with Father Jegar Fickel presiding. A time of visitation will be held on Friday, July 15, from 4-7 p.m. at the King Funeral Home, 301 North Jebavy Drive, Ludington, MI 49431. John will be laid to rest in St. John Cantius Cemetery in Freesoil, MI. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed to Spectrum Health Hospice, 750 Fuller Avenue NE, Grand Rapids, MI 49503, American Cancer Society/Hope Lodge, 129 Jefferson SE, Grand Rapids, MI 49503, or a charity of your choice.
