Mr. John Thomas Trantham, age 70, of Mears, passed away Sunday, December 9, 2012. He was born September 1, 1942, in Greensboro, NC to Tom and Beth (Sartin) Trantham. He served in the Army from 1960-1964 and in the Florida National Guard from 1964-1966. He married the former Carolyn Vantluka on January 6, 1968, in Chicago, Illinois. He worked at Gray and Company as a mechanic and also at the Double JJ Resort as a wrangler. Mr. Trantham was an outdoors enthusiast who loved hunting, deep sea and lake fishing, and animals of any kind, but especially horses.John is survived by his wife, Carolyn Trantham; his children, Glenn Warren (Jennie) Trantham of Tracy, California, Craig Trantham of Mears, Eric (Dawn) Trantham of Shelby, and Wendy Trantham of Marietta, Georgia; his sister, Mary Ann Hodges of Arkansas; and his sister-in-law, Becky Robertson of Jacksonville, Florida. He also has seven grandchildren, Sara Trantham, Jessie Trantham, Charlie Trantham, Justin Higgins, Jacob Higgins, Lindsey Trantham, and Austin Trantham; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Raymond Trantham. A Gathering of Family and Friends to remember Mr. Trantham will be Saturday, December 15, 2012, from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon at King Funeral Home in Hart.
