Johnaine Gurzynski, a devoted wife, loving mother, proud grandmother, and dedicated community servant, passed away unexpectantly in the arms of her husband and love of her life.

Johnaine was the beloved wife of Tom Gurzynski for 47 years, with whom she shared a lifetime of love, friendship, adventure, and commitment. Together they built a life centered on family, community, and simple joys.

She was a proud and loving mother to her daughter, Leta Bowman (Brent Bowman), and her son, Kyle Gurzynski (Sarah Gurzynski). Her greatest joy in life was being "Grandma" to her six cherished grandchildren: Avra Bowman, Brady Bowman, Bohdric Bowman, Bearham Bowman, Parker Gurzynski, and Hudson Gurzynski. She loved each of them unconditionally and found immense happiness in supporting them in all their endeavors, especially their sporting events.

She was known as “Miss Johnaine” to many children in the community through Leta’s Educational Childcare in which she loved them all as her own.

Johnaine was preceded in death by her parents, Reggie and Betty Flewelling.

She will be remembered for her unconditional love of family and community. Few things brought her more joy than attending her grandchildren's sporting events, where she could often be found cheering enthusiastically from the sidelines. She took great pride in helping shape the lives of young children through Leta's Educational Childcare, sharing her kindness, guidance, and nurturing spirit with countless families.

Johnaine also treasured the adventures she shared with Tom on boat cruises, creating memories that reflected their love of travel and time together. She faithfully served the residents of Hamlin Township, always willing to lend a helping hand and contribute to the betterment of her community. She especially enjoyed the peaceful life she and Tom built in the country, where they spent many treasured hours together enjoying nature and the beauty of the land surrounding their home.

Johnaine's legacy is one of love, generosity, service, and devotion to family. She touched the lives of many and leaves behind a family that will forever cherish her memory and carry forward the values she instilled in them.

Though she will be deeply missed, her love, compassion, and unwavering support will continue to live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved her.

In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be dedicated to Johnaine’s grandchildren’s college fund, at Filer Credit Union.

Mass from the Order of Christian Funerals will be celebrated at 11:00 AM, Thursday, October 1, 2026, at St. Simon Catholic Church, in Ludington, with Father Jacob Zemaitis presiding. Visitation will be held Wednesday, September 30, 2026, from 1-3 PM and 5-7 PM at Beacon Cremation & Funeral Service, Pere Marquette Chapel, and at the church on Thursday from 10:00 AM until time of Mass.
