Mr. Joseph M. Abe, age 96 of Hart, passed away Sunday, September 6, 2015. He was born April 20, 1919, on the Big Island of Hawaii to Ottokichi and Tatsu Abe. He graduated from Kona High School in 1937. In 1940, following two years of study at the University of Hawaii, he came to Wisconsin to finish his college studies. Following his graduation from the University of Wisconsin Stout, he came to Michigan, where he taught high school in Fredrick, Walkerville, Hart, and Reeths Puffer school systems before retiring in 1981.
In 1985, he married Carol (Frick) Field, and they started their life together at the home he had built east of Hart.
He is survived by his wife Carol Abe of Hart; step-son Jim (Monica) Field of Mears; step-grandchildren Alexandria (Cory), Kenneth (Cynthia), and Abigail. Joe is also survived by several family members on several of the Hawaiian Islands.
He was preceded in death by his parents; sister Kikumi; brothers Yaso, Chitose, Yukio, Takeski; step-son Gene Field.
At Joseph's request, there will not be a formal service held.
