Mr. Joseph J. Briggeman, age 87, died Saturday, July 21, 2007. He was born in Cicero, IL to Joseph and Anna (Kuppet) Briggeman. Joseph graduated from St. Mel's High School in Chicago, IL and graduated in 1942 from Grinnell College in Grinnell, IA with a degree in Economics. He married the former Nancy Williams in Chicago, IL on November 1, 1952. Mr. Briggeman was employed as a Sales Manager for Scovill and Chicago Extruded Metals for over 50 years, until his retirement to Mears, Michigan. Prior to his retirement and moving to Mears, they lived in Atlanta, GA and Addison, IL. He served his country during W.W. II with the U.S. Navy as a pilot in the South Pacific. He was a lifetime member of Addison, IL VFW Post 7446 and a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church-Weare. As a man of many daily rituals, Mr. Briggeman was an avid golfer and reader and was a frequent visitor of the Hart Public Library. He survived by his wife of 54 years, Nancy Briggeman of Mears; their children, Denise (Tom) Cihlar of Orange Park, FL, Christie (Craig) Gruen of Orange Park, FL and Stephen (Melissa) Briggeman of Knoxville, TN; grandchildren, Stacey Cihlar, Andrew Cihlar, Ryan Welch, Taylor Welch, Joseph Briggeman and Jacob Briggeman; nieces and nephews, Pamela Crawford, Robert Williams and John Williams. The Mass of Christian Burial will be offered Friday, July 27, 2007 at 1:00 P.M. from St. Joseph Catholic Church-Weare with Fr. Anton Tran presiding. Interment will be in the Hart Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be given to the Hart Public Library.
