In Loving Memory of Julia (Horan) Lanning, age 97, who passed away March 3, 2022. She was born February 1, 1925, to Thomas and Barbara Horan, in Cheboygan, Michigan. She was one of 10 children.
Julia graduated from St. Mary's High School in 1943. After graduation she went to work at Continental Motors. Julia married Ted Lanning on January 15, 1947. After raising her family, she went to work at Howmet, in the Core Department, from 1979 until she retired in 1991.
Julia enjoyed golfing, bowling, and attending her grandchildren's and great-grandchildren's sporting events. She loved working in her yard, gardening, and she loved to dance.
Julia is survived by: her two daughters, Sandy Robbins and Kathy (Rick) Stegenga; her sons, Terry (Brenda) Lanning and Tim (Patti) Lanning; nine grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren; sister, Kathryn Dunphy of Texas; and a host of nieces and nephews.
Julia was preceded in death by: her husband, Ted (1970); and son, Michael (1949); five brothers; and three sisters.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 AM, Tuesday, March 8, 2022, at St. Mary of the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, 196 W. Webster Avenue, Muskegon, MI 49440, with Fr. Kyle Kilpatrick presiding. Visitation will be held from 6:00 PM – 8:00 PM, Monday, March 7, 2022, at Beacon Cremation & Funeral Service, White Lake Chapel, 413 South Mears Avenue, Whitehall, MI 49461.
