Julie Edict Caird of Manistee, Michigan passed away on December 4, 2025 in Traverse City, Michigan due to complications from ongoing health issues. Julie was 67 years old.
Born Julie Melinda Edict on October 5, 1958, in Ann Arbor, Michigan, Julie was a bright, very caring, compassionate person. She grew up in Dexter, Michigan. She pursued higher education at Michigan State University and then transferred to University of Michigan where she received a Bachelor's degree in sociology. Guided by her desire to support others, Julie later earned her Master's degree in Guidance and Counseling from Eastern Michigan University. She later worked as a substance abuse prevention educator.
Julie held a lifelong love for the natural world. She found serenity in Lake Michigan beaches, joy in the changing seasons, loved collecting interesting rocks and fossils, and always tried to identify the birds she encountered. She also was a master gardener and loved planning flower and shrub landscape designs.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Barbara Julie (Yeomans) Edict, and her father, Glen Marvin Edict.
Julie is survived by her husband of 41 years, Peter James Caird of Manistee, Michigan. She is also survived by her sister, Nancy Lucella (Edict) Wilkins of Monument, Colorado.
May Julie's soul find peace among the trees , beaches, and birds she loved.
