Obituary

Julie Marie Holliday of Fife Lake, passed away quietly on March 21, 2021 at Munson Medical Center after a courageous battle with lymphoma.

She was born in Traverse City on April 20, 1957, the daughter of Harold and Harriet Smith.  Upon graduation from Traverse City Central High School, Julie worked in quality control for United Tech Industries, Lear Corporation and most recently Kennemetal.

Her tireless work ethic defied her 30 year battle with Wegener's granulomatosis, a rare autoimmune disease, and her most recent battle with lymphoma.

Alongside her beloved husband Tim, Julie enjoyed spending time outside, whether it was hunting for mushrooms in the spring or tending to their expansive gardens.  It was hard to leave Julie and Tim's house without a bag of fresh vegetables from their gardens and a carton of fresh eggs from their ducks and chickens.

Julie was also an avid baker, and always provided an array of cookies and other treats for any and all occasions; making lucky recipients feel like part of her family.  Her other talents included many crafts, especially macrame and flower arranging, which she sold on a regular basis at the Fife Lake Farmer's Market.

Mostly, Julie will be remembered for her incredibly kind heart, generosity, and her deep love for family and friends.  No matter how difficult her own circumstances could be, she was always more concerned about others, never dwelling on her own problems.

Along with Tim, Julie is survived by her son, Kyle Allen; surrogate son Chad (Amber) Johnson; her brother, Keith (Lori) Smith; her nieces, Aubrey (Matt) Poremba and Allida (Jeremy) Clark; and brothers and sisters-in-law, Jeffrey, Laura, and Kathy Holliday, and Alfred, Robert, and Susan Miller.  She was preceeded in death by her daughter Lorraine, and her parents Harold and Harriet Smith.

Julie "Jules" will be deeply missed by her husband and family, as well as all who had the chance to know her.

The family will receive friends from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Saturday, April 3, 2021 at the Beacon Cremation and Funeral Service, Covell-Kingsley Chapel.  Memorial services will be private.

Memorial contributions may be made to Lymphoma research and Wegener's granulomatosis research.
