Mrs. Kathaleen A. Howard, age 92, of Kingsley and formerly of Hart, passed away Tuesday, March 20, 2012. She was born May 22, 1919, in Elbridge Township to Claude and Laurena (Donges) Aiken. She graduated from Hart High School in 1937 and attended one year of college. She married James W. Howard on April 11, 1944, in Hazel Park and he preceded her in death in May of 1992. She was employed as an inspector at Howmet until her retirement in 1976. Mrs. Howard affiliated with Elbridge Community Church. Kathaleen was very family-oriented, hardworking, and willing to help her family with their projects. She and James vacationed in their motor home and liked to go ice fishing together. She enjoyed yard work and always had a well-kept lawn; she also enjoyed both vegetable and flower gardening.
Kathaleen is survived by her daughter, Joy (Chris) Storms of Kingsley; four grandchildren, Lisa (Thomas) Russell, Tammy (Scott) Hufnagel, Michael (Blair) Storms, Tom (Jeannette) Storms; twelve great grandchildren; one great-great grandson; and one sister, LaVyonne Frees of Hesperia. She was preceded in death by her parents and husband; two sisters, Natalie Campbell and Jassamine Rasmussen; and four brothers, John, Burt, Stillman, and Marion Aiken.
The funeral service for Mrs. Howard will be Friday, March 23, 2012, at 3:00 pm at Elbridge Community Church with Pastor Dennis Hintz and Pastor Steve Summerfield officiating. Interment will be in Elbridge Cemetery. Visitation will be Thursday from 6-8 p.m. at King Funeral Home. The family requests that any memorials be directed to American Cancer Society.
