Mrs. Katherine Battice, age 82 of Custer, passed away Friday October 6, 2017 at the Oakview Medical Care Facility. She was born in Ludington on August 1, 1935 to Charles and Laura (Comstock) Phillips. Katherine married Harold Battice in Ludington on June 12, 1954 and he preceded her in death on May 3, 1993.

Katherine was a homemaker and a wonderful caring mother. She always had a smile and had a strong will and constitution during her life.

Katherine is survived by her seven children: Harold Battice II of Hart, Cathryn Ann Battice of Hart, Christine (Thomas) Clever of Ada, KS, Howard (Monica) Battice of Ludington, Jeffrey Battice of Manistee, Cynthia Battice-Shewchuck of Ludington, Duane Battice of Lisbon, OH; twenty seven grandchildren; thirty one great grandchildren; two brothers, David (Judy) Phillips of Muskegon, Steve Phillips of Kansas; two brothers in law, Clark Wheaton of Ludington, Gerald Battice of Ludington; one sister in law, Arlene Dixon of Flint. Along with her husband, she was preceded in death by her son, Owen Battice; two great granddaughters, Shaman Battice and Sophia Pitts. Katherine was also preceded in death by her five siblings.

The Funeral Service for Mrs. Battice will be held Saturday, October 14, 2017 at 2:00 pm from Beacon Cremation and Funeral Service, King-Chapel, with her grandson, Matthew Battice officiating. Interment will be in the St. Joseph Elbridge Cemetery. Visitation will be Saturday, one hour prior to the service.
