Mrs. Katherine E. VanDenHeuvel, age 76, of Hart, died Thursday, September 25, 2008. She was born in Pentwater on August 26, 1932 to Clyde and Estella (Rasmussen) Coon. On April 18, 1953, she married Helidore VanDenHeuvel in Pentwater. Mrs. VanDenHeuvel was a member of the West Golden Wesleyan Church. She was a homemaker, but also worked at Rothbury Rambler, Cal-Van, Century 21 Real Estate and Farm Bureau. She was an active member and secretary of the Hart Heritage Historical Preservation Society. Her interests included, golfing, flower gardening, 4-H leader and Girl Scouting, yard sales and antiques. She was an avid card player and one who always hated to lose. She was a wonderful wife and mother, who loved her family, faith and the Lord. Mrs. VanDenHeuvel is survived by her husband of 55 years, Helidore, also known as Toots or Vandy; children, Ted (Martie) VanDenHeuvel of Plano, TX, Julie (Steve) Lamb of Pentwater, Karin (Ken) DeVries of Grandville, Lynne Hoffman of Hart, Mark VanDenHeuvel of Hart and Kris (Rick) Trygstad of Twin Lake; 18 grandchildren; 8 great grandchildren; brothers and sisters, Gayle (Marilyn) Coon of Stephensville, MI, Adrian (Evelyn) Coon of Cape Coral, FL, Shirley Anthony of Pentwater, Donna Gates of Cocoa, FL and LaVern (Sylvia) Coon of Plymouth, MI. The Memorial Service for Mrs. VanDenHeuvel will be held Saturday, September 27, 2008 at 1:00 P.M. from the Elbridge Community Church with Pastors Dennis Hintz, Guy Rayle and Ron Rickard officiating. Interment will be in the Hart Cemetery. A Memorial Gathering for family and friends will be held Friday from 2-4 & 7-9 P.M. at the Tate-King Funeral Home. Memorial contributions may be given to the Hart Heritage Historical Preservation Society.
