Mrs. Kathleen F. Foster, loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend, passed away Wednesday, March 4, 2009. She was born in Grand Rapids, Michigan on July 17, 1923, the daughter of Emmett and Faye (Stewart) Roche. At the age of eight, the family moved to Hart, where she graduated from Hart High School in 1941. She attended the University of Michigan for two years, where she was a member of Zeta Tau Alpha Sorority. On June 19, 1945, she married Thomas Foster. Together they raised six children, who brought them much joy and happiness. In 1965 they took over management of the Hart and Pentwater Theatre until Tom's death in 1985. Kathleen was an active member of the community. She served as a Cub Scout den leader for the boys and a Girl Scout leader for the girls. She was also a member and past president of the St. Gregory's Altar Society. Kathleen loved her winters in Florida on Anna Marie Island. There she became active in the Island Players, an organization that supported the local community theater. She later moved to the The Villages, Florida to be closer to her daughters. In 2001, ill health brought an end to those winters. She was a loving and devoted mother that always supported and encouraged her children's endeavors. Kathleen is survived by her loving and devoted children: Tom Jr. (Linda) Foster of Hart, Mary Kay (Harley) Cargill of The Villages, FL, and Nancy (Robert) Grady of The Villages, FL, John (Beth) Foster of Portage, MI, Sue (James) Lamie of Hart, and Stewart Foster of Hart. Grandchildren: Kevin Foster, Laura Crosby, Sarah Schultz, Thomas Cargill, Craig Cargill, Diane Lewis, Trisha Thomas, Anna Lacey, Michael Foster, Kelly Foster, Kathleen Lamie, Jameson Foster Lamie and 11 great grandchildren. She is also survived by her brother Stewart (Arlene) Roche of Hart, brother in law, Loren (Barbara) Foster and sisters in law Katherine Foster and Blanche Foster, many nieces, nephews and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and brothers in law and sisters in law. The Mass of the Resurrection for Mrs. Foster will be offered Saturday, March 7, 2009 at 11:00 A.M. from St. Gregory Catholic Church with Fr. Ronald Schneider presiding. Interment will be in the Hart Cemetery. Visitation will be Friday from 4-7 P.M. at the Tate-King Funeral Home.
