Obituary

Kathleen Joan Greiner (Katie)  born on October 15,1956, left us on angel

wings, April 7, 2024, after a short illness. Katie was a very special child of

God. She was born into a large family and grew up with her family's  love

and support. She was proud to graduate from Elk Rapids High School with

her brother Mark in 1976. Katie loved to fish, especially in Canada with the

family, travel, and do yard work. She worked at different jobs from

babysitting, GTI in Mancelona, and then independently living in Kalkaska,

MI and working at the DMV for many years. Katie was also a long time

member of Horizon Clubhouse in Rapid City, a place where she found

friends who accepted and loved her. She participated in many activities

with the clubhouse, especially highway clean up, and Walk a Mile.

Katie loved being independent and eventually moved to her own

apartment back in her hometown of Elk Rapids. Katie loved to take walks

and would smile and say hi to everyone she met. Her family is forever

grateful for the people who visited with her, watched out for her, and

treated her with kindness.

Katie was a lover of animals especially cats. Her last weeks at Meadow

Brook Care Facility were spent with their black kitty who loved to lay on

her bed and be with Katie. We are so grateful for the loving care of

everyone in Grass Creek at Meadow Brook. The love, care, and respect

each one of you gave our sister was more than we could have hoped for

as she declined.

Katie was born to Calvin and Joan Greiner. Siblings, Mike (Anita), Charlie

(Rhonda), Mary, Mark (Joanne) Patty, Susie, and Calvin (Tandra). Many

nieces and nephews who loved their special aunt. Katie's parents, as well

as Charlie, Mark and Mary welcomed her through Heaven's gate with open

arms. Family and friends will celebrate Katie's life with a Memorial on May

4, 2024 at Sacred Hear Cemetery in Kewadin at 2pm.

Katie needed little in life but love, kindness and acceptance. If you would

like to do something in remembrance of Katie, be like Katie. Love, be kind,

accept differences and go for a walk and see all the beauty around us, just

as Katie did.

Beacon Cremation & Funeral Service, Covell-Elk Rapids Chapel, is in charge of arrangements.
