IN LOVING MEMORY OF

Kathryn Marie Wade
February 24, 1946 – October 12, 2024
Kathryn Marie Wade, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and educator, passed away peacefully on October 12, 2024, in Traverse City, Michigan, where she had enjoyed her retirement for the last 15 years. She was 78 years old.
Kathryn was born on February 24, 1946, in Wayne, Michigan. She was a proud graduate of Wayne St. Mary's High School and went on to earn a bachelor's degree from Eastern Michigan University. She later obtained her master's degree from the University of Michigan, reflecting her lifelong commitment to education.
Kathryn devoted 25 years of her life to teaching, inspiring countless students in the Birmingham and West Bloomfield school districts. She spent her career at West Maple, Berkshire, and Orchard Lake Middle Schools, where she was a beloved figure in the classroom, known for her passion for history and learning. Beyond the classroom, she continued to teach and inspire her own children and grandchildren, instilling in them a love for discovery and knowledge.
Kathryn's adventurous spirit took her around the world—she visited six continents and all 50 U.S. states. Through these travels, she nurtured her family's appreciation for history, encouraging them to explore historical sites firsthand and connect with the stories of the past.
Kathryn is survived by her devoted husband of more than 50 years, Michael Wade; her two children, Adam Wade and Kelsie (Joe) Van Horn; and her five cherished grandchildren: Kiersten, Jake, Michael, Riley, and Rex. She will be remembered not only as a dedicated educator but as a loving wife, mother, and grandmother who brought joy and curiosity into the lives of everyone she touched.
A private family service will be held in her honor. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to a local educational charity in Kathryn's name, so her legacy of learning and teaching can continue to inspire future generations. A celebration of life will be held for Kathryn at a later date.
Beacon Cremation & Funeral Service, Covell-Traverse City Chapel, is in charge of arrangements.
