IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Kathy Jean
Hatfield
December 27, 1949 – January 24, 2024
After a beautiful life of over 74 years, Kathy Jean Hatfield, of Hesperia, passed away on January 24, 2024, while in comfort care with family and friends near. She was 74 years old and leaves behind her brother, Richard Hatfield; her sister, Carol Laport; and her sons, Erik Coon and Robert Coon (wife: Bethany Coon); as well as 6 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; and her brother, Bill Hatfield.
Kathy was born December 27, 1949, in Hart, Michigan, to father, John Hatfield and mother, Viola Ferne Bower, who preceded her in death. She grew up in Pentwater, the youngest of 4 children. Kathy always enjoyed art and also spent time working as a hair stylist before having her two children, Erik and Robert. She then shifted focus to becoming a homemaker where she was home and raised her two sons in Hesperia, until they came of age, and she re-entered the workforce. She worked at the DURA automotive factory in Fremont until her retirement when she needed to focus on battling her newfound diagnosis of leukemia. She would beat it.
A few years prior to her retirement, Kathy's love for art would be re-ignited. She began attending painting classes and continued to learn while at home. She loved painting pictures for family members and took even more joy out of challenging herself to push the boundaries of her previous works. This was a common theme in Kathy's life as no matter the challenge, she would meet it head on and push through it.
Kathy was important to so many people. She was a friend to many, a sister, a mother of two, and a grandmother to 6 grandkids; 3 from her son, Erik (Lilith, Declan, and Arthur) and 3 from her son, Robert (Alexander, Amaya, and Aubrie). Kathy was also a great-grandmother of 2 from her oldest grandchild, Lilith Coon; Osias and Athera. She always looked forward to any time she could spend with her grandchildren.
A Memorial Gathering will be held in Kathy's honor from 11:00 AM – 2:00 PM, Saturday, February 3, 2024, at Beacon Cremation & Funeral Service, King-Hart Chapel, 2370 North 72nd Avenue, Hart, MI 49420.
