Dr. Kenneth Roland Butcher, age 84, of Hart, passed away Thursday, January 19, 2017, at Oceana County Medical Care Facility in Hart.  He was born June 28, 1932, in Granville, OH to Roger and Atta (Neighbarger) Butcher. He married the former Mary Jo Marsh in Ypsilanti, Michigan on June 20, 1953. Ken attended Michigan State University School of Veterinary Medicine and earned his DVM degree in 1957. He established his practice in Hart known as the Hart Animal Clinic for 38 years, until his retirement in 1995. Ken served on the board of directors of Oceana Hospital and Hart Public Schools. He was a former member of the Hart Lions Club and had received the Lion of the Year Award.

Kenneth is survived by his wife: MaryJo Butcher of Hart; two daughters: Susan (Garth) Larson of Hart and Barbara (Erik) Johnson of Manistee, MI and two sons: Mark (Kay) Butcher of Hart and Karl (Betty Rangel) Butcher of Hart;  two sisters: Betty (Peter) Zornosa of Greensburg, PA and Nancy Jean Davis of St. Joseph, MI and one brother: Phillip (Donna) Butcher of Red Bank, NJ; he also has eight grandchildren, Rebecca (Matt) Devitt, Angie Larson, Scott Butcher, Sarah (Mohamed) Elgamal, Ashley (fiancée Adam Jacques) Johnson, Daniel (Gyu Jin Lim) Johnson, Samantha (Zachary) Samuels, Nathan Butcher; three great grandchildren, Colton James Samuels, Stella Mae Samuels, Zayden Smith and two expected on the way.  He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Wendall Butcher.

The Memorial Service for Dr. Butcher will be Saturday, January 28, 2017, at 11:00 am at King Funeral Home & Cremation Services-Hart with Pastor Thomas Schmidt officiating. Interment will be in the Hart Cemetery. Visitation will be Friday from 6-8 p.m. at King Funeral Home & Cremation Services.
