Lindstrom
October 1, 1927 – February 4, 2017
On February 4, 2017, death claimed Kenneth Albert Lindstrom at age 89. He was born in Chicago on October 1, 1927, to Olaf and Judith (Johanson) Lindstrom. Ken was proud of being a first generation American whose parents immigrated from Sweden in the early 1900s. At an early age, he and his parents moved to Duluth, Minnesota. He attended the University of Minnesota - Twin Cities where he received a degree in Business Administration in 1950. In 1951 he earned his CPA designation and joined the Price Waterhouse accounting firm in Chicago. He met Charlotte Fuller while they were both working in Chicago and they were married in 1956. A few years later he left Price Waterhouse to work for the Boulevard Bank of Chicago where he rose to vice-president, retiring in 1992. After their marriage, Ken and Charlotte moved to Glenview, Illinois, where they raised two children, Tom and Mary. After their children left home, Ken and Charlotte travelled extensively throughout the world.
In 1993, they moved to their retirement home on Pentwater Lake in Michigan. In Pentwater, Ken was active as a volunteer in many local organizations. He and Charlotte were charter members of the Pentwater Lake Association, where he served for many years as treasurer. He served on the board and as treasurer of the Pentwater Historical Society, two terms on the board and as treasurer of the Pentwater Township Library, and on the Finance Committee of the Pentwater Service Club. He enjoyed his mornings in Pentwater having coffee with his friends.
Surviving are his wife Charlotte, son Thomas (Margaret) Lindstrom, daughter Mary Lindstrom (Mark Steichen), grandson Mark (Tracie) Lindstrom, granddaughter Melissa (Bryan) McBroom, grandson Alexander Steichen, and two great-grandchildren.
Visitation will take place at the King Funeral Home from 6pm to 8pm on Monday evening, February 6, 2017. At the request of the deceased, there will be no service. Memorial contributions may be directed to the Pentwater Historical Society, PO Box 54, Pentwater, MI 49449 or to the Pentwater Service Club, PO Box 273, Pentwater, MI 49449-0273.
