Obituary

Kennie Aaron May, age 78, passed away on April 20, 2024, after a courageous battle with Parkinson's Disease. His strength and bravery will never be forgotten.

He was born on September 21, 1945, in Paragould, Arkansas, and graduated from Flint Northern High School in 1963. He then went on to have a 33-year career at General Motors, in which he took immense pride, retiring in 1999.

On May 16, 1965, he was united in marriage to Regenia Bigelow, who now survives him. Over the 59 years they spent together in Flushing, Lake Leelanau, and Torch Lake, they made many wonderful memories. His love for her and his family will forever be cherished.

Ken loved a good joke, a cold Pepsi, a long drive listening to Bob Seger, NASCAR, GM cars, and photography.

As a father, Ken offered invaluable guidance and support to his children, Tracie (Tim) Creighton and Kennie II (Renee) May. As a grandfather, affectionately known as "Papa," he delighted in playing and bonding with his grandchildren: Tim II (Joy), Brock (Taylor), Aaron (Brittany), McKenna, and Nicholas, as well as his great-grandchildren: Lucille, Wren, Sawyer, Sutton, Sophyia, Rosie, and Hayleigh. He is also survived by his sister Shirley Hamrick. He was preceded in death by his parents, Rev. Neil (Geraldine) May, brother Bennie, and sister Marcia.

2 Timothy 4:7-8

A private celebration of Ken's life will be held at a later date to honor his memory and the impact he had on the lives of those who knew and loved him.

Beacon Cremation & Funeral Service, Covell-Kingsley Chapel, is in charge of arrangements.
