Kim Michael McGee, 85, passed away peacefully on June 26, 2026. He was born April 13, 1941, the son of Ray and Betty McGee.
Kim devoted his life to his family, his faith, and serving others with kindness and quiet wisdom. A proud graduate of the University of Notre Dame, he carried a lifelong commitment to learning and excellence throughout his personal and professional life. He worked for Illinois Bell Telephone and its successor and affiliated companies for 30 years, holding positions in engineering, operations, and training throughout the Chicagoland area.
Outside of his career, Kim was an avid reader who enjoyed gardening, biking, snorkeling, and financial planning. He was well-read, well-traveled, and known for his curiosity, thoughtful conversations, and remarkable knowledge on a wide range of subjects. Above all else, Kim cherished his family, treasured his friendships, and lived in his faith each day. He will be remembered as a devoted husband, loving father and grandfather, and a loyal friend to many.
He is survived by: his wife of 63 years, Mary Lee (Murray) McGee, whom he married on December 29, 1962, at St. Luke's Church in River Forest, Illinois; sons, Kevin (Kerri) McGee, Dave McGee, Mark (Sarah) McGee, and Matt (Ann) McGee; grandchildren, Keaton, Ellie, Sean, Kelly, Laura, Andrew, Avery, Cullen, Addie, and Sully; siblings, Kathy Finn, John McGee, and Pete McGee; sister-in-law, Jean McGee; as well as many beloved nieces, nephews, extended family members, and dear friends.
Kim was preceded in death by: his parents, Ray and Betty McGee; and siblings, Margie Crotty and Dave McGee.
A funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM, Tuesday, July 7, 2026, at the St. James Catholic Church, 5149 Dowling St, Montague, MI 49437. Visitation will be held one hour prior to services at the church, with a luncheon immediately following. The family will privately inter Kim in the Mt. Calvary Catholic Cemetery, Montague.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Tunnel to Towers Foundation.
Kim will forever be remembered for his unwavering faith, kind spirit, love of learning, and the deep devotion he had for his family and friends.
Beacon Cremation & Funeral Service, White Lake Chapel, is in charge of arrangements.
