Larry Keith Jager, 81, of Montague, passed away on Thursday, July 4, 2024. He was born on June 30, 1943, in Muskegon, Michigan, to Jacob and Lillian (Fisher) Jager. He graduated from Montague High School in 1961 and was a lifelong supporter of the Wildcats. In 1966 he married the former Marie Bloomstrom, and they spent 58 wonderful years together.
Larry, along with his wife, instilled in their children the importance of faith, hard work, kindness, and a deep love of family. He was also affectionately known as the Candy Man and will always be remembered for his love and dedication to his family business, where he made old-fashioned hand pulled taffy, and many other sweet treats. Larry's dedication, generosity, and love for his family, friends, and community will live on with his children, grandchildren, and all whose lives he touched.
Larry is survived by: his wife, Marie Jager; children, Michael (Lorie) Jager, Susan (Adam) Fleser, Sara (Rick) Blankstrom, Ben (Becky) Jager, and Stephanie (Matt) Dye; grandchildren, Lindsey, Nicole, Brooke, Cameron, Brandon, Colton, Kevin, Katlyn, Claire, Lucas, Ryan, Jackson, Maci, Hailey, Case, Madison, and Brianna; great-granddaughter, Breslyn; siblings, Terry Jager and Merry (Jim) Grieve; sister-in-law, Michelle Jager; and numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family.
Larry was preceded in death by: his parents; Jacob and Lillian (Fisher) Jager; sisters, Sharlene Easton, Connie Gary, Marjory Hunt, and Georgette Zarimba; and brothers, Brad Jager, John Jager, and Tony Jager.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 AM, Wednesday, July 10, 2024, at White Lake Baptist Church, 5280 Dowling Street, Montague, MI 49437, with Pastor Mike Deblois presiding.
Visitation will take place from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM, Tuesday, July 9, 2024, at Beacon Cremation & Funeral Service, White Lake Chapel, 413 South Mears Avenue, Whitehall, MI 49461 and from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM on Wednesday, before the service at the church. Interment will follow the service on Wednesday, in Oak Grove Cemetery, in Montague. A luncheon will be held after the service.
