Laura May Sobode, 67, of Houston, Texas, formerly of Hart, Michigan, died Saturday, August 8, 2026, at Memorial Hermann Sugar Land Hospital in Sugar Land, Texas.  She was born February 19, 1959, in Hart, the daughter of Richard and Sharlene (Elwell) Shafer.

Funeral services will be conducted at 1:00 PM, Monday, August 17, 2026, at Beacon Cremation & Funeral Service, King-Hart Chapel, with Father Wayne B. Wheeler officiating.  Visitation will be held Monday from 12:00 PM until time of services at the funeral home.  Graveside services will begin at 3:00 PM, Monday at Mt. Ulysses Cemetery in Crystal Township.
