Obituary

LaVerle May Settler, 97, of Hart, passed away Sunday, August 26, 2018. LaVerle was born on February 26, 1921, the daughter of Harry and Gertie Cole.

In 1941, LaVerle married Leo Settler. Together they were blessed with 3 children and 62 years of marriage until his death in 2003.  When the children where young, she helped her husband working on the Stokley Farms that Leo managed. After the families work on the farm ended, she went to work at Brays Variety Store in Hart and then later at Goodwill in Hart. She enjoyed sewing, quilting, crocheting, cooking, and gardening. She was a patient, caring woman whose kindness and beautiful smile will be deeply missed.

LaVerle is survived by: her children, Leo (Joel Cuffman) Settler, David (Terri) Settler and Patricia (James) Denison; grandchildren, Kristen (Johan) Franz, Kurt (Robyn) Denison and Alexis Settler; great-granddaughter, Madilyn Franz; sister, Harriet Martin; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband Leo; brother, Vernon Cole; and brother-in-law, Dick Martin.

Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 AM, Friday, August 31, 2018, at Beacon Cremation and Funeral Service, King-Hart Chapel, 2370 N 72 nd Avenue, Hart. Visitation will take place 1 hour prior to the start of the service. Interment will be in South Weare Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made to Oceana Medical Care Facility.
