Lawrence (Larry) Donovan Frietsch, 74, of Whitehall, passed away peacefully in his sleep on the morning of September 3, 2024. He was born April 12, 1950, in New Brunswick, New Jersey, the son of Lawrence Delano and Doris (Hamilton) Frietsch.
Larry proudly served his country in the United States Army, a Vietnam veteran, before retiring from Howmet.
Larry was a wonderful cook and baker, known for his delicious meals and treats. He was passionate about camping, fishing, gardening, and landscaping. There was nothing he couldn't fix, and he took pride in his ability to tackle any project. Above all, Larry cherished his family and the time they spent together.
Larry is survived by: his loving wife of over 51 years, Donna; his sister, Sandra (Greg) Wilson; his children, Jacob (Elin) Frietsch, Tanya (Wayne) Debski, and Melissa Herring; and his grandchildren.
Larry was preceded in death by: his parents, Lawrence and Doris Frietsch; his sisters, Kathleen and Karen; and his brother, Chuck.
Larry will be deeply missed by all who knew him. His genuine kindness, caring nature, and love for his family, along with his dedication and service as a Vietnam veteran, will always be remembered.
Memorial services will be conducted at 11:30 AM, Saturday, September 28, 2024, at Lebanon Lutheran Church, 1101 S Mears Ave, Whitehall, MI 49461. Following the service, a graveside service with Military Honors will be held in Oakhurst Cemetery, in Whitehall. A luncheon will be provided following the service at the cemetery at the White Lake VFW Post 3256, 9370 Walsh Rd, Montague, MI 49437.
