Leila June Johnson, age 95, of Ludington, passed away Saturday, August 6, 2016, at home. She was born June 5, 1921, in Ludington to Neil and Lillian (Schmuhl) MacDonald. She spend most of her life being a homemaker as well as working at Wolverine Manufacturing and Mitchell Bentley Corporation. Leila enjoyed reading, sewing, cooking and baking for her family. Her apple pie and pineapple cake were favorites of her family. She also took great pride in her church activities. Leila always made her children a priority, lending a hand wherever and whenever she could to help them. She has been known to be able to soundly hold up her end of a disagreement.
Leila is survived by one daughter: Sandra (Don) Wilbur of Ludington, and two sons: Sidney (Deborah) Johnson of Ludington and Linden (Anna) Johnson of Custer, seven grandchildren: Don Wilbur, Spring Kettler, Gavin Johnson, Casey Johnson, Myra Haner, Emma Johnson, Ivy Johnson, nine great-grandchildren: Anela Kettler, Allison Kettler, Shelby Wilbur, Amelia Johnson, Jase Haner, Alice Krause, Avan Haner, Lydia Haner, River Kortge, and one expected great grandson She was preceded in death by her parents and brothers: Louis, Alex, Vernon, and Millard MacDonald.
The memorial service for Leila will be held Saturday, August 27, 2016, at 1:00 p.m., at the Pentecostal Assembly of Freesoil with a luncheon to follow at the church. Any memorial contributions may be directed towards the Pentecostal Assembly of Freesoil building fund.
