Mr. Leo H. Schumaker, age 81, died Saturday, January 26, 2008. He was born in Grand Rapids on June 26, 1926 to Leo and Edna (Laws) Schuamker. He married the former Marilyn (Ames) Schneider in Grand Rapids on January 29, 1978. Mr. Schumaker was employed as a factory worker for 30 years at the Blackmer Pump Company in Grand Rapids. Following his retirement, Leo drove Jeeps at Sandy Corners in Silver Lake. His interests included fishing, snowmobiling and animals, especially cats and dogs. He was also an artisan with paint and pencil drawing. He enjoyed photography as well. He was a longtime resident of Hart. Leo is survived by his wife, Marilyn (Ames) Schumaker of Ludington, children, James (Stephanie) Schumaker of Richmond, VA, Steve McLeod of Grand Rapids and Kathy (Lee) Smith of Wayland, MI; several grandchildren; brother, Russell (Bonnie) Schumaker of Grand Rapids; four sisters, Willa Wood, Edith (Art) Zahm, Marilyn (Robert) Alberda and Theresa (Ray) Borgman; step-daughter, Vicki Ames of Hart. He was preceded in death by three brothers, Kenneth, Gordon and Ray; one sister, Phyllis Kershner.The Committal Service for Leo will held Friday, 2:00 P.M. February 1, 2008 at the Floral View Memorial Gardens Cemetery, Grandville, Michigan. Memorial contributions may be given to the family.
