Leora "Lee" Chapel, 75, of Ludington, formerly of Hart, passed away Monday, October 22, 2018 at Oakview Medical Care Facility. Lee was born in Muskegon, the daughter of the late William and Eileen (Lorentz) Hoppe. She was a graduate of Muskegon Catholic Central High School and married her husband of 58 years, Ronald J. Chapel, on July 23, 1960 in Muskegon, and together they raised two children.

Lee and Ron formerly owned and operated the Gateway Motel, R and L Variety, both in Hart, and Lee also worked for her father as a waitress at the Ruby Creek Tavern. She enjoyed being with her grandchildren, an occasional trip to the casino, bowling, playing bingo, and loved all animals.

Lee is survived by her husband, Ronald Chapel; daughter, Rhonda (Paul) Merrifield; son, Daniel (Maria Pleiness) Chapel, many grandchildren, and many great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her parents.

Visitation will be held from 4:00 – 6:00 PM, Thursday, October 25, 2018 at the Beacon Cremation & Funeral Service, King Hart Chapel, 2370 N. 72 ^nd Avenue, Hart.
