Obituary

Leroy "Joey" Joseph Hall III, 28, of Traverse City, has passed to be with his Lord and Savior.  He was born February 17, 1995, in Traverse City, the son of Leroy J. Hall II and Karen Oskaboose.

Joey was a member of the Saginaw Chippewa Indians Tribe of Michigan.  He was also a member of the Pentecostals of Traverse City.

Joey was a loving father, son, brother, and uncle.  He enjoyed many things in his life.  His son, Josiah, was #1 in his life.; he was a proud father and cherished the time he had with him.  He loved his family deeply.  Joey enjoyed spending most of his free time with his dog "Mukwa;" his dog was his protector and kept Joey on his feet.

Joey enjoyed nature, for sure!  Within one week's time during the month of July, Joey found 16 eagle feathers!  He loved exploring new trails and staying near the water.

Joey was so artistic!  He loved to draw; beading was a hobby as well.  He enjoyed fishing, bowling, swimming at the beaches, and getting family events together.  He was always on his A-game, doing his best to help in all possible ways.  He enjoyed his music even more and was very athletic as well; basketball and boxing were his sports while in school.

Church was a big part of Joey's new beginning.  He walked with the Lord, making Pentecostals of Traverse City his main church home.  Over this summer, Joey made a tremendous impact on the community around him as well as his church community, guided by Pastor Brent and family.  He loved being part of most family events and just living his best moments as a brother to the church.

Joey was a loving person: a caretaker, giving his free time to others in need.  A different side to Joey definitely; he had a beautiful soul and that showed.

Survivors include: his son, Josiah Paul Hall of Mt. Pleasant; two sisters, Deanna Hall (Kitchi-Kishap Shomin) of Traverse City and Charla Hall of Grand Rapids; one brother, George Hall of Grand Rapids; four nieces, Ariya Cloud Hall, Gabrielle Hall, Lyrica Cloud, and Ziigwan Shomin; two nephews, George Hall III and Geezhigaate Shomin; uncle, Richard Oskaboose; aunts Michelle Oskaboose, Leah (Pio) Fernandez, Rena Hall  and Elky (Derrell) Reynolds; several loving great-aunts and great-uncles on both sides of his family.  Joey loved dearly all his many, many close first and second cousins, all the way down the line of many close cousins.

Joey was preceded in death by: his grandmothers, Delores Oskaboose and Gladys Sawmick; grandfathers, Donald Wilson Sr. and Leroy Hall Sr.; aunts, Larissa Hall and Loretta Hall; and uncle Donald Wilson Jr.

Funeral services will be conducted at 1:00 PM, Thursday, August 3, 2023, at Kewadin Indian Methodist Church Pavilion, 7248 Cairn Highway, Kewadin, Michigan  49648, with visitation beginning at 11:00 AM.
