IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Linda Michele
Hough
May 10, 1952 – August 26, 2025
Linda Michele Hough, 73, of Whitehall, peacefully passed away Tuesday, August 26, 2025. She was born May 10, 1952, in Muskegon, the daughter of John and Mary Jane Maleckas and Edith Wright. Anyone that knew her would be shocked to learn that Leukemia won. She was known by the medical staff as the "energizer bunny" who they often had to track down. She walked several miles daily in the hospital halls during treatment.
Linda and Robert Hough Jr. were married on April 1, 1977. This date, April Fool's Day, was intentionally chosen to reflect their humorous outlook on marriage, embodying the sentiment "you'd have to be a fool to get married." Their relationship was characterized by shared jokes, nicknames, and a mutual commitment to caring for one another throughout their 48 years together.
At the age of 19, Linda started working at Meijer in Norton Shores, as a cashier. She dedicated 40 hardworking years to the company until retiring in 2013. Linda truly enjoyed her time there and the lasting relationships she built.
Linda's energy was youthful and boundless. She treated everyone she met with love and respect. She encouraged her daughter to reach for the stars and always showed her support. She had a youthful spirit and enjoyed every minute with her grandsons. Linda enjoyed playing cards and "creating her own rules". She was a prankster, a gingerbread house creator. She enjoyed fishing, snowball fights, gardening, making bonfires, and sampling her grandson's baked goods. She had hoped to go skydiving in September with family. The only activity she hadn't checked off on her bucket list.
Linda's character was further defined by her remarkable generosity and kindness. Her inclination to "look out for everyone and make sure she could help them in any way she could" exemplifies a selfless nature. Her quiet ways to spread all the love that was her, shows how humble yet impactful she was to contributing positively to her community and the lives of those around her. She will be deeply missed.
Linda is survived by: her husband, Robert Hough Jr.; daughter, Carrie Grinwis; two grandsons, Andrew and Jacob Grinwis; siblings, John (Gail) Maleckas, Kathleen Whitman, Jasmine Bondae, Irma (Eric) Free, Deb (Arnie) Anderson, Sue (Frank) Ross, Betty Ann (Rick) Newcomb, Dianna (Larry) Moore, and Linda Hoekstra; and numerous nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and cousins.
Linda was preceded in death by: her parents, John and Mary Jane Maleckas; mother, Edith Wright; son-in-law, Chad Grinwis; and siblings, Michael Wright, LeRoy Draby, Kenneth Darby, Lee (Sharon) Kimes, Ted Baran, Frank Whitman, and James (Bea) Hough.

Thankful for the compassionate, respectful, knowledgeable medical staff. Special thanks to, Dr. Daniel Taylor, and his team from Trinity Health, Grand Rapids, Oncology. The U of M, Bone Marrow Transplant and Hematology medical team, led by Dr. Mary Riwes and Dr. Dale Bixby.
In accordance with Linda's wishes, cremation has taken place and no services will be held at this time.
Linda devoted her life to helping others, in lieu of flowers, gifts, and cards, the family asks that you spread kindness and generosity amongst family, friends, and neighbors in Linda's honor.
