IN LOVING MEMORY OF

Linda Mae

McCarthy

Obituary

Linda Mae (Hayward) McCarthy, 79, passed away peacefully March 31, 2026. She was born May 21, 1946, in Holton, the daughter of Richard and Mary (White) Hayward.

She found joy in life’s simple pleasures; cooking, tending to her garden, thrifting and yard sales, mowing her lawn, sewing, crocheting, and all kinds of arts and crafts. She had a deep love for music, especially oldies, and could often be found dancing or fishing; most notably on the ice, where she made sure to spend time even this past winter.

What truly set her apart, though, was her unwavering devotion to her family. She was always there for her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, quietly teaching meaningful lessons in the way she lived and loved. She was deeply caring, wonderfully stubborn, and never hesitated to go after what she wanted. Everyone she met was touched by her presence, and she left a lasting impression on every life she encountered.

Linda is survived by: her children, Sandra (McCarthy) Wood, Ron (Amy) McCarthy; grandchildren, Jessa (Cody) Henson, Michael McCarthy, Amanda Lawarance and Kirsten Wood; great-grandchildren, Draven, Kyrin, Dakota, Braiden, Keona, Brailee, Lincoln, Alex, Mavin, Matthew, Josie, and Silas; sisters, Patricia (Rick) Gustman, Mary Helen (Robert) Battles, Annie Marie Easly, Rosie (Audie) Braase; brother, Billy (Vivian) Easley; Sisters-in-law, Esther Hayward, Angel McCarthy and Judy McCarthy; and many cousins, nieces and nephews and others extended family members.

Linda was preceded in death by: her Husband, Ellsworth “Alan” McCarthy; parents, Mary Helen (White) and Richard Hayward; siblings, Marge (John) Pipoly, Delbert Hayward, Richard O’Connell and Judy Hayward; In-laws, Ellsworth J. McCarthy and Vivian McCarthy; brother-in-law, Don McCarthy; and sister in law, Linda Marie McCarthy.

Beacon Cremation & Funeral Service, White Lake Chapel, is in charge of arrangements.
