Mr. Lloyd "Bud" Richard Cargill, age 88, of Hart, passed away Saturday, December 8, 2012. He was born September 18, 1924, in Hart to Jesse and Nettie (Johnson) Cargill. He served in the US Army during the Korean Conflict and attended Michigan State University for two years. On April 2, 1953, he married the former Dorothy Murphy in Indiana; they were married 59 years. Mr. Cargill worked at Howmet Corporation, now Alcoa, and also was a farmer. He served on various township boards, was a member of Hart VFW Post 1329 and the Hart United Methodist Church, and enjoyed farming, gardening, and fishing. He and Dorothy spent their winters in Florida. Bud is survived by his wife, Dorothy Cargill; three children, Dan (Jane) Cargill of Syracuse, New York, Rex (Cheryl) Cargill of Hart, and Patricia (Jeff) Brott of Naples, Florida; seven grandchildren, Benjamin (Tammy) Cargill, Jaime (Jeff) Lange, Alisha Cargill, Lori Cargill, Lynn Cargill, Stephen Brott, and Katherine Brott; four great-grandchildren, Emma and Hanna Cargill and Bridgette and Abigail Lange; and two sisters, Ila Smith of Shelby, and Margaret Kinney of Ludington. He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Donald and Gerald Cargill.The memorial service for Mr. Cargill will be held Wednesday, December 12, 2012, at 2:00 p.m. at Hart United Methodist Church with Pastor Rebecca Wieringa officiating. Interment will be in Hart Cemetery. Visitation will be Wednesday one hour prior to the service.
