Obituary

Lois Lamoreaux (April 27, 1937 – February 29, 2024)

Lois Ann Lamoreaux, age 86, of Elk Rapids, MI went to be with her Lord and Savior on Thursday, February 29, 2024 with her daughter by her side.  Lois was born April 27, 1937 in Norwood, MI to Floyd and Eva Wagner (Stafford).  She attended Charlevoix High School.

At the sweet age of 15 she met the love of her life, Russell Lamoreaux and they were married October 2, 1954.  Lois and Russ were happily married for 60 years and did everything together – their love ran deep.  Together they developed Elk Rapids Heights which opened in 1965.  Lois was so proud that Russell built the family home – her dream home on top of "Brick Yard Hill".

Lois loved her family and was a homemaker and mom for many years.  Her love for reading led her to a job as assistant librarian at the Elk Rapids High School for 25 years.  She gave of her spare time by being a den mother in Cub Scouts, a vacation Bible school coordinator and Sunday school teacher at Elk Rapids United Methodist Church and most recently Kewadin Community Church where she was a member.  She loved her church family deeply.

Together, Russ and Lois started R & L Crafts in 1987 and worked side by side for 27 years creating and selling their beautiful wood craft items.  They enjoyed traveling across Northern Michigan to various craft shows and meeting other crafters. They also enjoyed seeing many parts of the US and Canada on their many family vacations.

Her greatest joys were her husband, children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.  She loved people and enjoyed talking with others, sharing her love for Jesus and her historical knowledge of the community.

She will be greatly missed by her children, Ronda (Edward) Michael of Traverse City and Wayne (Robin) Lamoreaux of Rosemount, MN; daughter-in-law Beth (Ron) Klimp of Cadillac; five grandchildren, James (Heather), Aaron, Stephanie (Tony), Jason and Colin (Jocelyn); seven great-grandchildren, Paige, Gwendolyn, Grant, Carter, Eleanor, Edith and Lucy and many nieces and nephews that loved her and held a special place in her heart.  Lois is preceded in death by her parents, her husband Russ, son Mark and daughter Tonia.
