She was preceded in death by her husband, John R. Morris; her parents, Arthur and Ranghild Weng of Daggett, MI; her brother, Roger Weng and wife Joyce of Phoenix, AZ; her sister Lorraine Shafer of Pentwater and her stepdaughter Susan Garner of Pueblo, CO.
Lois was born in the small Upper Peninsula town of Daggett where she grew up helping in the family store and was an honor student in school. After graduation from high school, she enrolled in the University of Iowa, and afterward pursued a business career with Illinois Bell in Chicago. She progressed quickly up the ladder beyond the position of Business Office Supervisor to responsibilities in communication and training. She continued to work until her 4 stepdaughters were out of college, then retired to follow her husband John in his career moves with the Bell system, including assignments at Cape Canaveral in the space program, and a 2 ½ year sting in Logos, Nigeria. After John retired, he and Lois moved to Pentwater where John served as Village President from 1984 until 1994. John and Lois continued to travel until John's death in 2002, after 41 years of marriage.
Lois enjoyed helping others, and gave generously of her time, serving some years at Treasurer of the Centenary United Methodist Church and helping other Pentwater Seniors with their bookkeeping problems. She generously supported several local charities, including the Pentwater Senior Center and the Pentwater Library. She will be missed by all who knew her.
A private interment service will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Lois' memory to the Pentwater Seniors Inc. and Pentwater Library.
