Mrs. Lois Ann Sawdy, age 79, passed away Friday, October 5, 2012. She was born March 21, 1923 in Brethren, Michigan to Vernie and Gladys (Marvin) Hindman. Also in Brethren on April 7, 1950, she married Frederick Eugene Sawdy and he preceded her in death. Lois was employed as a finisher at Howmet and was also a seamstress for the sewing company in Shelby. Her interests included putting puzzles together and word search. She especially enjoyed her family and cherished their visits together. She will be always remembered by her family that she always gave them a present at Christmas and birthdays. Lois is survived by her children, Janet (Robert) DeYoung of Branch, MI, Judy (Rodney) Stovall of Shelby, Glen (Karen) Sawdy of El Paso, TX, Percy (Shirley) Sawdy of Ludington, Barbara (Terry) Locke of Hart, Dianne (David) Cantu of Grand Rapids, Bernard (Mary) Sawdy of Hart, Jeneive (Michael Cole) of Topeka, KS, Gail (Mark Pierce) Salazar of Hart; 38 grandchildren, 78 great grandchildren, 11 great-great grandchildren; sister Shirley Smith of Pentwater. In addition to her husband Frederick, she was preceded in death by her parents, 2 brothers, Raymond and James Hindman, granddaughter, Leaha Schmuck. The Celebration of Life for Mrs. Sawdy will be held Monday,October 8, 2012 at 11:00 AM from the Hart V.F.W. Post 1329 with Pastor Leo Anderson officiating. Friends may meet the family one hour prior to the service. Memorials may be given to the Hart V.F.W. Post 1329 or to the family.
