December 17, 1942 – June 20, 2018
Lois Ellen Wissner, 75, of Montague, passed away peacefully at her home with her daughters at her side on June 20, 2018. Lois was born on December 17, 1942 to Elmer and Leone Thomas.
On May 6, 1961 Lois married Thomas Wissner. Together they were blessed with 43 years of marriage and 2 children. Lois worked at Montague Public Schools for many years. She had a strong faith in the Lord and was a member of St. James Lutheran Church in Montague, where she was a member of the quilting group and had many friends. She enjoyed gardening, puzzles, reading, watching birds, fishing, and the outdoors. She was a quiet, caring, strong-willed, and loving woman who will be deeply missed.
Lois is survived by: her children, Cheryl (Bill) Armstrong and Patti (Tim) Lanning; grandchildren, Brandon (Sara) Armstrong, Lauren (Josh) Veenstra, Tanya Lanning and Kati (Dillon Bailey) Lanning; great-grandchildren, Ainsley, Eliza, Abigail, William and Sophia; brother, Raymond (Judy) Thomas; sister Carol Miller; and many cousins, nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband Thomas; parents; and brother-in-law Robert Miller.
A memorial service will be conducted at 11:00 AM on Saturday, July 21, 2018 at St. James Lutheran Church, 8945 Stebbins St. Montague with Pastor John Brooks officiating. The family will greet guests for a time of visitation at the funeral home on Friday, July 20, 2018 from 5:00 – 8:00 PM at Beacon Cremation & Funeral Service-White Lake Chapel, 413 S. Mears Avenue Whitehall.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Harbor Hospice Foundation or St. James Lutheran Church.
