Loretta "Tootsie" Dora Gebhard, 84, of Kingsley, died peacefully at home on Saturday, October 29, 2022. She was born February 23, 1938, in Newark, New Jersey, the daughter of George and Gloria (Ochs) Lewis.
Tootsie is survived by: her children, David Gebhard of Kingsley, Debra Schaub of Traverse City, Wendy (Frank) Reno of Kingsley, and Wayne Gebhard of Kingsley; grandchildren, Chastity Norton, Rachelle Cruz, Michael Schaub, Heidi Gebhard, Amanda Armstrong, Lisa McNair, Ashley Thompson, Joshua Schaub, Nicole Trumble, Jennifer Nicole, April Dusseau, Nick Reno, and Michael Brandon Seglund; 36 great-grandchildren, seven great-great-grandchildren; sister, Loydene (Larry) Mesimer; brother-in-law, Don Ippolito; and many nieces and nephews.
On August 10, 2006, Tootsie was preceded in death by her husband of 50 years, David Gebhard. She was also preceded in death by: her parents; great-grandsons, Jordan Norton and Parker McNair; and sisters, Sally Ippolito and Gloria Kelley.
Tootsie worked for Mike and Michelle Zaleski at Kingsley Pharmacy for 20 years. She was a member of St. Mary of Hannah Catholic Church. She was an animal lover, enjoyed ceramics and spending time at the Senior Center. In the past, she volunteered at the Traverse City Osteopathic Hospital. More than anything, Tootsie loved her family.
Mass from the Order of Christian Funerals will be celebrated at 1:00 PM, Friday, November 4, 2022, at St. Mary of Hannah Catholic Church, in Kingsley, with Father Joseph Muszkiewicz celebrant. Interment will follow in St. Mary of Hannah Catholic Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 12:00 PM until time of services at the church.
The family would like to thank Munson Hospice for their compassion and care during Tootsie's final weeks.
Memorial contributions may be made to The Rock of Kingsley.
