Lorraine Hughes-Kosnick, 87, of Montague, passed away Thursday, February 8, 2018. She was born December 21, 1930 to Ludwig and Minnie Schmidt.

In 1950, Lorraine married Richard Hughes Sr. Together they were blessed with 62 years of marriage and 2 children. In 2012, Richard passed away. Lorraine married Howard Kosnick in 2013 and he survives her. Lorraine was a school teacher at Montague Public Schools most of her working career. She was also a member of the Dirt Daubers Gardening Club. She enjoyed shopping, gardening, and dancing. She was a thrifty, independent woman with a beautiful smile. Lorraine was a wonderful mother and will be deeply missed.

Lorraine is survived by her husband, Howard Kosnick; children, Janet (Jim) Kienke and Rick (Holly) Hughes; grandchildren, Jennifer (Jason) Hekkema, Jason (Emily) Kienke, Joe (Emily) Kienke; Morgan Hughes and Taylor (Jonah) Hughes; and great-grandchildren, Carter, Madison and Henrik.

A memorial service will be conducted at 11AM on Saturday, February 17, 2018 at St. James Lutheran Church 8945 Stebbins St. Montague 49437 with Pastor John Brooks officiating. A luncheon will also follow the service. The family will receive guests from 10AM-11AM at the church prior to the service.

In lieu of flowers, memorials in memory of Lorraine can be made to St. James Lutheran Church or the Montague High School Alumni Fund.
