Mr. Louis "Louie" Eugene Alvesteffer, age 82, of Ludington, formerly of Pentwater passed away Saturday, February 6, 2016, following a lengthy illness. He was born December 21, 1933, in Weare Township to Bernard and Edith (Brunk) Alvesteffer. He was employed at Dow Chemical. He married the former Betty L. Keen at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Weare on May 12, 1954.
Louie loved his vegetable and flower gardens. He enjoyed taking care of the lawn at home and volunteering countless hours to his parish, St. Joseph-Weare helping with the landscaping and lawn care. Louie loved to snowmobile and socializing with friends. He was always ready to lend a helping hand to anyone that needed one. Louie was a 39 year member of the Pentwater Township Fire Department and was a member of the Knights of Columbus Mary Queen of Peace Council 2199 in Hart. He will be remembered as having and living a full life.
Louis is survived by his wife: Betty L. Alvesteffer of Ludington; one daughter: Deborah (Dennis) Lucero of Grand Junction, CO and one son: Christopher Alvesteffer of Ludington, MI; five grandchildren, Hartley Alvesteffer, Liam Alvesteffer, Jamie Banning, Justin Maynard, Adam Lucero; five great grandchildren, Alexis Banning, Breanna Banning, Abigail Maynard Bissell, Norelle Lucero, Nash Lucero; two sisters: Theresa Brown of Auburn , MI, Marge Cory of Auburn , MI and four brothers: Clarence (Jean) Alvesteffer of Bay City, MI, Maurice Alvesteffer of Beaverton, MI, Harold (Jean) Alvesteffer of Wyoming, MI, Allen Alvesteffer of Muskegon, MI; and serveral nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, son Gary Alvesteffer; two brothers, James Alvesteffer, and, Edward Alvesteffer, two sisters, Mildred Mapes, and Dorothy Kelly.
The Graveisde Service and Committal for Louis will be held Saturday, June 11, 2016 at 11:00 AM at Mt. Calvary Cemetery-Weare. Interment will be in Mount Calvary Cemetery, Weare Township.
