M. Wikle
January 1, 1924 – September 2, 2023
Louise M. "Pettee" Wikle died Saturday, September 2, 2023, at her home of 65 years in Traverse City, MI., following a lengthy illness. She had been cared for lovingly for 12 years by her son Scott, daughter-in-law Sara, and their children.
She was born January 1, 1924, in Grandville, MI., daughter of Floyd J. and Angie M. (Yeomans) Hogan. In July 1949 she married Roland R. "Ron" Wikle who passed away on October 4, 1999.
As a young woman Louise lived in Grandville and worked as a hat model for several large department stores in Grand Rapids. She played Hawaiian guitar at many local dance events. In 1953, Ron, Louise, and their daughter Linda Lou moved to Traverse City, where Ron worked for Murray's Boat Shop. In 1963, she and Ron opened and operated Wikle's Harley Davidson until their retirement in 1982. Pettee and Ron were active in the Cherryland Eagles Motorcycle Club and spearheaded many riding events for the organization. Pettee always carried tools and chain links in her purse. She loved nature, animals, and life. Merle Haggard music was heard in her home till the very end of her days.
Survivors include her daughter, Linda Lou Wikle (Gail Trill) of Williamsburg, MI, two sons, Tomy (Dawn) Wikle of Nashville, GA, and Scott (Sara) Wikle of Traverse City. Grandchildren Angela Fouts, Tristan Wikle, Maret Wikle, Kirsten Willis, Beth Bakke, Kayla Kellogg, Robert Kellogg, great grandchildren Jim Fouts, Jessica Fouts, Krista Hill, Rachel Willis, Fiona Willis, Matilda Willis, Joshua Kellogg, Oliver Mikowski, Olivia Mikowski, and 6 Great Great Grandchildren.
The family wishes to thank The Care Team of Hospice and especially nurse Kayla.
There will be no services as requested by the family. Interment will be at Grandville Cemetery at a future date.
