Mrs. Louise Mae McCarty, age 93, of Shelby, passed away Friday, May 26, 2017, at Mercy Health Partners Lakeshore Campus in Shelby. She was born March 4, 1924, in Hart to Waldo and Hazel (Riggs) Dillingham. She graduated from Hart High School with the Class of 1942 and also attended Muskegon Business School. Louise married Wayne McCarty on October 27, 1944. They were married fifty years before his passing on May 15, 1995. She was a homemaker and co-owner with her husband of the McCarty store. She worked as a beautician, and as a cook at Elbridge Community School.
Louise is survived by two daughters, Sue Ann (Hollis) Rockwell of Shelby and Charlene (Dennis) DeBest of Northport; one son, John (Jean) McCarty of Hart; seven grandchildren; fifteen great grandchildren; fifteen great great grandchildren; one brother, John (Lois) Dillingham of West Palm Beach, FL. She was preceded in death by her husband, Wayne McCarty; parents; two sisters, Norma Jean Freeman, Mary Ellen McClouth, one brother, Tom (Connie) Dillingham; granddaughter, Megan McCarty, and infant sister, Beulah.
The funeral service for Mrs. McCarty will be held Wednesday, May 31, 2017, at 1:00 pm at King Funeral Home in Hart with Fr. Phil Sliwinski officiating. Interment will take place in Hart Cemetery. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the funeral service. The family requests that any memorials be directed to American Diabetes Association.
