Mr. E. Lyle Frick was born in Shelby on September 30, 1914 to Fred and Rose Anna (Moore) Frick, they moved to Walkerville in 1928. He graduated from Walkerville High School in 1933, and then married Leona Chase in 1940. Lyle owned the Frick's Gas and Service Station on the corner of 176th Avenue and Main Street. He then bought the Corner Garage, which he operated until 1946. Once Lyle became ill, he sold the gas station. At that time he worked on farms and drove a fuel truck until 1948. Soon after he went into partnership with Glen Chase where they bought Walkerville Well Drilling, he retired but stayed active in all aspects of the company. Lyle has spent every winter in Florida since 1952, except one. Lyle was active in the following: Walkerville Village President, Walkerville Fire Chief, Walkerville Fire and Rescue Department, Boy Scouts, Member of Walkerville United Methodist Church, Michigan Ground Water Association President and Oceana County Intermediate School Board. He is survived by wife, Leona; daughter, Carol (Joe) Abe of Hart; 2 sons, Jerry (Verla) Frick of Walkerville and Robert (Regina) Frick of Tulsa, OK; 3 grandchildren, Jim (Monica) Field, Gregory Frick and Angela (Mike) Slowik; 5 great grandchildren, Alexandria Field, Kenneth Field, Kaylee Slowik, Kevin Slowik and Nathan Slowik; sister, Joyce Domin of Idaho. He was preceded in death by his parents, grandson Gene Field, brother George, step sisters and brother, Myrtle Ayers, Miles Randolph, Esther Lulofs and Ethyl Carter. The Memorial Service will be held Thursday, August 16, 2007 at 2:00 PM at the Walkerville United Methodist Church. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church. Memorial contributions may be given to the Walkerville United Methodist Church.
