Lynn Margaret McGovern passed away peacefully at her apartment in Traverse City Michigan January 2nd 2024.  She was born August 7th 1954 in Flint Michigan, to her parents Roy Joseph McGovern and Evelyn Rose Metzger.

Growing up she was a 1972 high school graduate of the Flint Northern Vikings where she was one of the cheerleaders.

After moving to Traverse City with her former husband Dennis Phillips they started a family and welcomed their son Ben into this world.  She loved working in the Oryana Kitchen early on and even opened up a store of her own in downtown Traverse City.  Lynn was always an extremely passionate artist and focused heavily on her love for arts in the Traverse City area.  She organized and participated in many art shows and became a pillar in the women's art community in Traverse City.  She spent her free time looking for treasures.  Petoskey stones, Morel mushrooms, and Great Lake agates were among the top prized possessions.  She loved hosting her family and friends always with a focus on food, fun, and well, sometimes unwarranted debate…

Lynn found home in the outdoors.  Feet on the earth and hands in the dirt.  She loved this planet and showed us all how we can be more kind to it.

Lynn had a deep passion for protecting human, womens, and environmental rights and a fashion sense that communicated that while being unique to her.  Her relentless passion to protect and stand for what she believed in was a treasuring quality and will be greatly missed.

She had her fair share of quirks and unexplainable things she loved, the unwavering desire for a perfect green jello salad at the holidays being a highlight.

Lynn is survived by her son Ben, Brother Brian, and sisters Diane, Erin, Gail, and Karen along with many extended family members and dear friends.

She was Preceded in death by her parents Roy and Evelyn and her brother Shaun
