IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Lynn Moyer
Tooman
June 20, 1954 – February 11, 2025
Lynn Tooman, 70 years old, of Ludington MI, traveled to the spiritual world, February 11, 2025 with the support of family and friends after one year facing the challenges of ALS. He chose to write his own obituary as it is shared here:
I was born on June 20, 1954 in Port Huron, MI. My dad said I was the best Father's Day gift ever. I graduated from Port Huron Northern High School and went on to earn an Associates degree in Electronics from St. Claire Community College in Port Huron. I then pursued a degree in Electrical Engineering from Lawrence Technological University. I enjoyed a career with Dow Chemical from Midland to Ludington until retirement in 2012 always striving to balance work with pleasure. Family and enjoying life always came first.
My parents, Phyllis and Wayne Tooman, as well as my brother Brad, have already passed. I loved and was well loved by my wife, Kathy (McKinley) Tooman. I met, my wife on a blind date in 1971. We have been together ever since. We are as one. I have two amazing sons, Christopher (Jen), and Daniel (Katherine), and one special grandson, Noah. Noah has always been my adventure buddy. I was blessed to spend lots of time with my Bradley and Tooman cousins both as a kid and as an adult. My nieces, Missy (Tooman) Herron, and Ellie (Tooman) Moe have always had a special place in my heart. Kathy's sisters and brother in laws, Sue (John) Berka, Pattie (Bill)Whymer, and Bridget (David) Schiavo and their kids provided lots of special moments and memories.
My name means "flowing water". Being one with water and nature defined how I saw my life and who I was. Sensing the path to follow in water, by canoe, or sailboat, or body surfing was instinctual, sort of my super power. I hope that I have provided a comforting, smooth path for family and friends in my life, helping them navigate their lives with as few ripples as possible.
Instead of flowers, please donate to the Susan Mast Foundation, the ALS of Michigan Association, or Harbor Palliative Care of Muskegon. Our journey through ALS was guided by their expertise and caring. Family and friends, as well as the ALS clinic in Grand Rapids and the Harbor Palliative team provided hands to hold and guide us throughout this journey.
A celebration of Lynn's life will be held Friday, March 7, 2025, at Beacon Cremation & Funeral Service, Pere Marquette Chapel, from 4:00 – 7:00 PM with a time of sharing beginning at 6:30 PM.
