Obituary

Mrs. Mabel L. Flanery, age 98, of Mears, passed away Wednesday, April 24, 2013. She was born June 20, 1914, in Walkerville to Joseph and Clara (Green) Beggs. She married Stanley E. Flanery on May 14, 1931, in Walkerville and they were married nearly 52 years before his passing on February 7, 1983.
Mabel was the rock of her family and loved them all very much. She enjoyed the outdoors and flowers; spring was her favorite time of year.

Mabel is survived by one daughter, Cindi (William) Carlson of Mears; two sons, Robert (Caroline Ritter) Flanery of Walkerville, and Norman (Linda) Flanery of Mears; 17 grandchildren; many great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren; and daughters-in-law, Mary Anne Flanery of Sparta, and Donna Flanery of Walkerville. She was preceded in death by her parents and husband; two sons, Gerald and Donald Flanery; grandchildren, Doni Flanery, Jim Flanery, and Michael Flanery; great-grandson, Zackary Flanery; daughter-in-law, Patsy Flanery; three brothers, Frank, Archie, and Orin Beggs; and two sisters, Thelma Clark and Midge Frederickson.

The Funeral Service for Mrs. Flanery will be held Saturday, April 27, 2013, at 1:00 p.m. at Hart United Methodist Church with Pastor Rebecca Wieringa officiating. Interment will be in Mears Cemetery. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service. The family requests that any memorials be directed to American Cancer Society, 129 Jefferson SE, Grand Rapids, MI 49503 or to The ALS Association, Development Department, 27001 Agoura Road, Suite 250, Calabasas Hills, CA 91301.
